2004 NC Gourd Festival Report

If you missed Page 1, that is where the coiling was (or most of it, anyway). This page has people, and non-coiled work...please let me know if I have mis-identified anyone, or need to add a name somewhere. What fun it was!

Other great gourds...just a few of my favorites!

Some of the really great carved stuff.

Pyrography
(That is woodburning, for those of you who don't know!)

Thanks to Bonnie Gibson, for her talk on gold leafing. I am sure Turtlefeathers was grateful for it, too, from the number of people who ran off to their booth to buy leaf afterwards. Also thanks to Bonnie for just BEING THERE...my, was her work wonderful!

Joe Lee
You MUST click on the thumbnail of Joe to see more of his work close up. I don't know how I missed this in previous years. Joe teaches, and does not set up a vending booth, so unless you seek him out, you might miss it too. Fabulous pyro work...and he makes earrings. Wish I could have afforded some. Maybe next year!

The judges did a fabulous job...I am pretty sure they are volunteers. Thanks for taking the time to really look at all the pieces.

The Primitive Originals booth is always one of my favorites! They have lots of embellishments, stands, books, binders, many bright colors...as well as original tutorial booklets and non-copyrighted artwork for those who are looking for good "pyro-fuel".

David and Ronna Wuttke of Turtlefeathers, talking to Judy (who is in charge of the festival) in their HUGE booth. This is the place to buy wood-burners, mini-saws, inlace, gold leaf, books, and many other of your gourding needs!

Deb (Rowe? sorry, cannot remember all the people I met!) coiling in the Turtlefeathers booth. Nice work, Deb!
