From Lisa McCament to Jane Hodson
Doubled Irish linen thread,
Needles from the ocean's shore.
Many rows I've coiled so far,
Still I must coil many more.
Reds and greens I have not used,
So summer sun won't fade its hue
Because the needles are not dyed,
And the thread is colored blue.
When the final row is stitched,
I won't want to let it go.
But, alas, I gave my word,
and so I'll send it to the snow.
Hoping that the part of me
Found within my basket blue
Finds a home where it will give
Many years of joy to you.
Congratulations to Lisa for composing the winning clue, and to Jane, for guessing that it was coming to her!
Thanks very much to Tom Arnold, who hosted this exchange, established the exchange STANDING RULE, and generated so much new membership. You did a great job!
